Cameos, nods to the original and strong comedians, this movie easily surpassed the lack luster expectations from the horrendous trailers. Paul Feig has a bad rap of directing truly funny movies (a la Bridesmaids) that had bad trailers. This one was no different. There were two solid wit fests between Kristen Wigg and Melissa McCarthy that caused tears of laughter.
This movie was not without fault, however. I wanted fun witty women from the real world pitted against ghosts, but the setting was a bit off. It wasn't quite "real." The Ghostbusters had a bit of cartoon like "super" strength. There's a scene where Leslie Jones saves Kate McKinnon from falling from a window and she basically flies up and through.
Anyway, this was fun for me and my family. More good than bad, so please see it (or don't).
