Kubo and the Two Strings

Yet another family event. I took my 2 little bears to this one.  Aside from the theater thermostat being set to arctic, I had a good time.

The visuals were amazing.  The story was crazy (Kubos's grandpa wants to steal is last remaining eye.  Yes the eye in his head, to blind him from seeing humanity).  The monkey and beetle were a good team and played well off each other.

The magic and music were great.  The instrument Kubo played to channel his magic made the movie fun and helped with the momentum.  I did find the overall spiritualness to be a bit pushy, and my 5 year old was asking tons of questions about talking to dead relatives.

The stop motion animation was fun, but distracting at times because action scenes were seamless, but general talking seemed a bit choppy.  Regardless, the story was solid, there was enough humor but not an over the top comedy and the voice acting and music score were well edited.  See it for sure, plus the kids will like it too.
