The Mechanic: Resurection

Back in collage, we used to play a Jason Statham drinking game.  Every time he took his shirt off you either took a shot or killed your beer.  Oh man, this movie would have sent our whole crew under the table ...

This movie felt anachronistic of the classic 90's action movies.  The choreography was actually ok, but Jason was invincible.  He was a 1 man army that could plow through 20 guys and not get hurt, heck, he wouldn't even really get hit.

The set up and fight scenes were trite, but what do you expect from a 90 minute movie with tons of separate and distinct fight scenes.  The over arching plot is very week.  Que Jessica Alba.  She was blackmailed into seducing Statham, but her wooden acting chops couldn't even fool Statham's character.  He knew right away she was not who she seemed.  But he fell for her anyway, huh?  Ya, literally in 24 hours he is head over heals enough to risk murdering 3 targets and his own life, let alone attempting to rescue her independently of the demands.

The 1 saving grace is that the trailer shows you what to expect.  I just can't believe Statham's big enough to drive this movie to a theatrical release.  I'm not saying the movie is out right bad, but it is exactly what youo think it will be.  If you like the mindless action of the 90's then wait till it's free, a la Netflix, otherwise skip it, unless you want to get hammered playing a Statham drinking game :)
