Nothing like kicking off 2017 with a dud. Now, I really wanted to like it. In my youth, I played role playing games like Vampire the Masquerade and Werewolf the Apocalypse and I really enjoyed the very first instalment in this film franchise, but ugg ... enough already. The visual effect are on par with TV effects from 2 or 3 years ago, the plot is linear and completely non-original and the set pieces looked like they were purchased from a Game of Thrones garage sale.
On the bright side, Kate Beckinsale doesn't seem bored with the character and I like how she played her character to seemingly long for death, but wasn't suicidal. And, every once in a while, the action choreography was fun, but again there was only fleeting moments of grace in this turd of a movie.
I'll say one last thing about the bad guy, what was he? They allude that he's special, or something different from being a vampire or a werewolf, but they never close the loop, so it's just another hole in the plot.
Ultimately, skip it, even if is free and cut for TV, just don't...
